What is the effect of hollow bits?

These bits are hollow inside, which makes them much lighter and has a gentler effect on the tongue, which may suit horses that are sensitive to this point.

However, let’s not jump to conclusions – such a bit will not be the best option for every horse. It can encourage excessive play with the bit, which in some cases ends with the tongue translation.
